Silver-blue SC Targa w/ NJ plates and PCA sticker on 95S below Beltway yesterday. Did not recognize drover. I was in the company touring car (10+ year old Escort station wagon) :)

Hundreds of really neat cars at the Rockville Antique Car Show this afternoon (yes, hundreds). Italian sports cars were the "featured" car this year (last year it was Corvettes), and they had some beauties. I still think the Lamborghini Miura is amazingly beautiful and so far ahead of its time in terms of styling. The had a LOT of "E" types, and some cars from the 60's I'd never heard of (no, I didn't write down the names). Also some very early cars and trucks, and lots of cars from the 20's and 30's in superb condition.
There were a few P-cars there, and I talked with a guy in a pristine 924-S (<40K original miles) and told him about Dorkiphus (so we can pick on someone new).

I am just a lowly tenant. Moved here a year and a half ago. I was told they had considered selling the office condos but that it had fallen through. Great location for me (home in Great Falls) and I love the W&OD in the back yard.
I do see Pcars here from time to time. An instucter had noticed my car here before and we chated; she frequents the shop next door.

Besides the distinct pleasure of running into Hunter at Dulles Town Center a few days ago, I also had the fun of following a White 1960 356 Super 90 on Route 50 and then Prosperity Rd in Fairfax. He pulled into Lewis Hauser's Carossorie Shop as I continued on. I think I got a slight buzz from the smell of unburnt gas and exhaust fumes from the pushrod 4 banger as I moved through the afterglow. It was easy to see that this car was realllly well taken care of too. Very nice paint and the chrome fixtures were super clean.

I was driving out of Prince William Parkway between Liberia and Hoadly road and right in front of me a 964 crossed in front of me. I made a quick turn and followed the car. The owner pulled over his residence and turned out to be another Porsche enthusiast to my benefit. He gave me some great info and once I finish my car I will meet with him for a day ride. He drives a 1996 with the rear wing spoiler and upgrade rims, he also had a Boxter parked in the garage for daily use, he said.
I don't know if I would of acted in the same manner if someone would had followed me instead. They probably would have looked at the end of my .40 caliber P2000. Not that it has happened before.
Black 996 Twin Turbo on the side of I-270 SB just north of Exit 16. Stopped to help - flat rear tire. He was on the phone with Porsche Roadside Assistance, but I changed the tire for him in about 20 minutes (the delay involved finding the special piece for the locking wheel bolt). The tire had a hole on the inner sidewall about 1.5 x 4"!! Wow.
I just happened to have my portable air tank in the car, which made inflating the inflatable spare much, much faster. Wish I'd had my jack...
Nice guy and wife. Dressed nicely (offered to help but I suggested I was already dirty).

That's impressive. To get a numbered license plate you need to be rated as one of the top 1000 government employees living in DC. For you to be rated 911 and still be able to afford a Porsche on a govie salary is quite a feat. ;)

Oh, and additional credit should be given to the parking job. Too many pcar owners are too concerned about their bumpers to even drive downtown. He's managed to fit his into an appropriately sized parking space..

I don't believe that all 1,000 are gov't employees. I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time....:p ), but I believe the low numbered plates are assigned by the DC Mayor or some-such, and include high ranking officials in DC Gov't, as well as $$ supporters, etc. Plus, I think they may be short termed use, too. Maybe 1 or 2 years. I seem to recall back in the M. Barry days, he was using "1" and his wife's car had "2".

Someone in my building just got one of those Tesla electric cars. Looks like they got a 240v outlet run to their parking space too. I sure hope that outlet is on their own personal electric bill, and not the condo association's. Car looks cool tho.

From the way back machine, I saw a 4 door Corvair Saturday leaving Dulles Town Center. Looked like a DD vs. antique.

Not in a p car :( 356 I think has a clogged fuel pump and the 914 is running better, but not good enough yet (trying a fuel additive idle jet cleaning...trying to avoid taking the carbs apart). Hope fully they'll be all set and tearing around Arlington come spring.
We should meet up sometime, just got a new lift today and need to run it and adjust etc...same offer goes to Kurt who's helped me a ton on the garage.
A very nice black Cayman S, with ceramics, Porsche aero kit, Champion wheels (I think) and Advan Neova tires in Reston in underground garage. Ohh, it also included a SP Oct 2010 sticker on the windshield ;)

On the Dulles Greenway yesterday about 5:00pm; black GT3RS with what I think were Washington state plates, going rather "briskly".
No graphics and orange wheels? If so, please define 'briskly'. I'm reasonably sure it was kept it under 100 MPH.
I saw a new red GT3 being driven by a blonde woman on the Greenway yesterday. I got very excited and tried to explain to my wife that the car is female-friendly. She still won't drive mine.
Nevertheless, if you're here, nice car.

Spotted this morning at Fair Lakes Starbucks: Around 26 cars of all types... one Ferrari 355, several Lotuses (Loti?), about a 15-18 Porsches, one Corvette ZO6, one new Camaro. Good time had by all although weather was a little brisk.If weather holds (no snow!), same place next Sunday. 8:30-10.

Well, ti could have been a rebodied 250 or even a kit on a Datsun 240. You'd be surprised hor many SWB 250s became GTOs. There was a time when even Lussos were under 50k (w/in the last 25 years). Hell 2+2 60s Ferraris were under 20k in Cali about 20 years ago.

They have been using a small white suv, with the camera's mounted on the frount, looks like a snow plow attachment. If you see the vehicle on the shoulder, slow down, since it's snapping pictures. They do move it around.

Excellence puts an '05 non-S @ $30k low, $40k high. So hes probably high (esp w/ some of the tacky addons. The wing (surely a replica) would be nice for track work as long as its not a terrible fit but the roof scoops, RS logos, and black hood vinyl have to go.)

Sure. If they needed to be seen on M street on Friday or Saturday nights. In general the roads are crap down that way and you're gonna bottom out on the cobblestone or beach the whole thing on some of those hills. ;) I'm all for having a nice car and having it in the city and don't worry about parking dings. But a car designed for track use with tight suspension and a low ride height is not the same thing. I figure there are two feasible explanations. The guy is actually an avid driver and needs to live downtown for his job, but couldn't afford a house with a garage for his 130K car but feels it's worth it for his passion. Or he's an asshat Georgetown student whose daddy has more money then brains and he just likes being cool and all that. ;) Hopefully it's not the latter.

I've heard and read somewhere that in other parts of the world Porsches are cars first and treasures a distant 2nd. Migh texplain the migration of our "Porsches" across the pond. Theirs are just used up.
