Nice red 964 lowered on what looked like 17" BBS mesh wheels, driving by while I was dog walking in Westover.

Edit: fixed to show the car wasn't walking my dog :P

Red 914 with no sail vinyl driving past my house today.
Never seen it before…another visual poke at me to work on my car after 10 years of not…

Could it have been this one (https://dorkiphus.net/porsche/showpost.php?p=585791&postcount=4832)? Believe that's John Brown.

John Woods I think.. its got a nice little 2.2 in it. He also has a 930.

I saw some very interesting cars the past 2 days. Here's one (I'll post some of them along the way).

Here's another one. Also special!

PS: Although I took this photos with my phone, the person reflected in the image was the very first investor in Tesla, well before Elon Musk (and much less than Musk's initial $8M).

Very cool captures, Dr. K! Definitely see exotics in the valley and along the PCH. Enjoy your time out there.

The 917 smoked the newer McLarens with 300+ more HP (the Porsche was 4-5 seconds/lap faster). That particular 917 had been upgraded to a 917/10 and then a 917/30, but was put back into its original specs for historic racing.

Here's another view of it:

I met this guy Buck Fulp who bought a badly wrecked Lola T70 in 1972 for $600. He rebuilt it himself (had never done fiberglass work but learned as he went). Buck wants to bring the car east and race at Watkins Glen, and I'm trying to convince him to do so and offering to crew for him. Here's Buck and his car:

You can't realize how steep the drop is at the start of the Corkscrew from photos or even videos - it's a lot steeper in person. On the videos, you can see the cars drop if they're far enough track right. Driving this track is now at the very top of my bucket list.

One last post on this: I'd always wanted to experience the sound of the older, high-revving F1 cars in person. This was taken from a strait 50' from where we parked. Turn your sound on, because the first 1/2 of this is the sound (don't worry, some of the cars do finally get there).

And there weren't just European cars there. This video contains some good ol' 'merican cars!

Gunnar Jeanette might explain the 4-5 sec/lap advantage.

There was also a 910 there - I'd never seen a 910...

910s are one of my favorites of the Piech era. Likely cause the first one I saw was as a youngster at the 1979 PCA Parade in Reston (also saw my first 917 at that Parade as well). In fact, the owner of the 910 was camped near us at Lake Fairfax campground and hauled the 910 around in a converted Airstream trailer.

Phone dump - 911 Dakar at Glaswerks in Sterling. Always something interesting in their lot.

Bullit Stang at Wegmans and chopped semi in S. MD where you always see interesting rods.

Spotted Tony P. aka hoodpin today on the Beltway. When I Roll down my window and honked at him, he looked at me with a "What? What did I do?" look until I yelled out my name.

Tony, good to see you. Jetted out of there since I didn't want to hold up traffic anymore than I already had.

^^ Ed's a funny guy.

I was towing back from SSI, following some post Club Race work I elected to have done. Had towed a different car up earlier, to embark in another project/resurrection. We shall see.........

Thanks for the pic Mark!!

phone dump- The Studebaker was recently painted, new small block and updated interior. Not really original but a looker. @dandelion said this was another GT4 in Reston.

Also, just saw red Cayman 813 on Cascades Pkwy this AM in P Falls. Cheers!

Tom Merrill is the Yellow Cayman (and it's not a GT4). :-)

Saw a sparkly new GT3 RS in the oh so subtle bright lime green shade just a few minutes ago. Driver didn't like me on his bumper with temp tags, but never offered a point by and missed the apex of most turns. I can only assume he was driving gingerly to keep his picnic basket from spilling over on the way to his favorite vineyard. :D

That wonderful car (in which I spend an hour recently) is owned by the person most photographed in Der V this past year and he lives quite near you, Fritz.

There is no question about it being a wonderful car, though that would not be my first color choice.
