Going home north on Rt 270 yesterday, I spotted a slow moving black Corvette in the right lane, near the Rt 28 exit. I noticed the side ducts behind the front wheel looked a bit different. Unfortunately I was in the HOV lane, and couldn't get much closer. But I slowed a bit as I went by and could see the tell-tale "window" in the hood; it was a ZR1! Ironically, just before that, I also spotted a Red/White Ford GT going southbound near the Montrose exit.

Forgot to mention at the time, but TR just reminded me.... Saw a broken down white Countach on 28 North in Chantilly (just north of 50) last week during the evening rush hour. I tried to snap a pic, but a bus drove by and got in the shot just as I pushed the button. Lucky for him he was only a few miles from the Lambo dealer.

I'm not good with older 911s, so forgive the weak description. 70s or early 80s really good looking white 911 with maybe a whale tale (and maybe a turbo) broken down on I-66 west just before the beltway with 3 flares behind him.

I had just gotten on a phone call that I needed to take, and could not stop. I did not notice the car until the last minute, so the description could be off. The guy was talking on his cell phone, and the three flares indicated that a cop had already stopped, so I figured a tow truck was on its way.

I'm sure he was returning from the weekly car show at the Manassas airport Burger King. I saw him there. It's a replica; nice one, too. It was a great day for cars and driving; the BK lot was absolutely packed. If you've not been, on any nice-weather Saturday, the cars will be out there in force. Mostly street rods, muscle cars (original '65 GTO, tri-power, for ex.), a few collectibles (early Vettes, Hemi Challenger, et al), lots of motorcycles. I saw one Boxster there (owned by friend Dash Parham) and one very, very nice red C6 ZO6. Also a yellow C6 Z06 with over 825 hp.

While down in New Bern, NC over the weekend, I was stunned by the number of P-cars tooling around. In our hotel parking lot alone, there was a White 944, a Red Boxster, a Gray 911 Cab, and a Silver 911 Coupe. Saw lots on the roads around town, too. Including a very nice 997 Turbo Cab that we saw several times. We were in our Allroad, so of course no one gave us the flash. :p

Found myself and the family lost this morning in Rock Mills, VA on Aaron Mountain Road a nice gravel road full of giant pot holes. While waiting for the GPS to get a signal, we spotted a silver Carerra Targa (tag "ACE & CUE") bounding along the other way with the top off and the windows down. I stuck my hand out the window and the fellow and his wife stopped and gave us directions back to a major road. We didn't get to chat since a big pick up came the other way behind him.

This morning on my drive to work I watched a guy in a white lambo just like that one doing a K-turn to avoid a deep puddle across the road. Took him about a dozen back and forths to get pointed in the opposite direction -- that car must have a large turning circle or this guy was an idiot. I would have simply cranked the wheel to the left and goosed the fun pedal to turn it around. :D

there's a new rims 'n' electronics shop on 29 not far from my house... they usually have a newish Lambo parked out front (along with a Z-car, a Viper, and an old Buick Wildcat sedan that looked really nice until they put some gawdawful wheels on it...) so if you have any desire to drool on one stop by some Saturday. (not really my cup of tea, so I haven't been over there... I'd probably feel obligated to mention my opinion of the "mods" they did to that poor Wildcat which would probably not ingratiate myself)

Downside is, if I'm home during the day, I can hear the thumpin' bass from the place from inside my house... I'm usually NOT home, but if I were, I'd probably be annoyed.

Oh, and I spotted a '62 Newport sedan for sale in front of someone's house on a side street, which makes me wonder if i could buy it and turn it into a driver, but with a $4500 asking price and needing at a minimum paint and tires... not really motivated to call.
