The door on cup cars/etc are just a VERY light pc of carbon fiber. If you lean on them then will break off (seriously.) They provide zero crash protection so no big deal it came off. Just for aero & cosmetics.

If you look carefully, the rear suspension is inverted (struts/coils below). That doesn't explain much other than how the rear wheels are still lined up.

VWs use a single trailing arm (often called a torsion beam axle.) Think of a big U w/ the wheels at the tips and attached to the body at the bottom. The shocks are the only things that limit the droop. Since those are obviously broken its hanging straight down.
x2. Doesn't explain much else:)

SCCA lets 16 year olds into their comp school with zero track days of experience. My girls started doing DEs at 15, but that was with an instructor in the car, not a time trial.

Slightly OT: At Road Atlanta they ran a PDX during the Sunday "quiet" period (10-12) and I was shocked to see that they ran without any corner workers. I suppose they had spotters around the track, but the flagger buckets were empty. This was on a damp track. On guy balled up his 370Z pretty badly. His repair bill will probably buy an SRF.

If this sort of thing becomes too common place I can see more stringent regulation and insurance fees being thrust upon the sport. I'm all for training kids, but some of this seems reckless from the stories as presented.

Electrical issues can cause all kinds of strange things on new cars.
Wet floor was probably due to the door electrics 'thinking' the door was being opened and lowering the windows 1/8" like they do these days.
I'm sure if the dealer replaced the harness and grounds from the get-go all would have been fixed.
BTW this is the reason I'd never buy an early version of a new car...I'd wait a year or two to get all the bugs worked out. Not that I can afford a new car these days anyway.

Fording capabilities are not the same as floating capabilities... The number of yayhoos I watched drive through dangerously high water in hatchbacks and other light cars is astounding. Six or 8 inches is one thing, but I saw a civic fly into 12-16 inch deep and 40 foot wide river going across the road as I was turning around yesterday.. He'll learn or die sooner or later.

A guy I used to go 4-wheeling w/ in college had a Ti plate in his forehead (accident before I met him.) He was pulling a guy just like that out w/ his old FJ, strap wrapped around the towee's ball, the ball snapped off the hitch, came back through the windshield hitting him in the face. Learned a lot of useful safety rules from those guys.

Angela and I were leaving the Froggie Froyo on Traville, in Rockville and we got behind a Blue Honda, newish, with rear wheels that had to have 30 degrees of negative camber. I mean the wheels were practically in the horizontal plane. We were screaming at one another where's the camera! (The fail was we couldn't get a camera working fast enough to get a picture.)

If you're a Pirelli World Challenge fan, you might notice that there is a well funded team racing Kia Optimas (FWD, 4 door sedans) and they run stupid rear cambers like the Honda. If I had to guess, I'd say it was to keep most of the rear tire off the ground to allow better rotation in turns (it being front-heavy and FWD). It looks moronic. But maybe that's what the "stance" guys are emulating. (Not.)

Please do your research about this car if you don't know much about it. Its a fun car to drive I just don't have the time or money to keep up with the high maintenance. This is currently my daily driver. I drive it from waldorf to Andrews afb almost every day. I am looking to trade it for something more pratical. I'll entertain all trade offers. It must run and drive. I have done alot of work to the car just call, email or text and ill tell you everything about it.
The bad list --
--Power steering belt off due to the rack leaking the rebuild kit is $40 havent had the time.
-odometer is broken (common issue with this car stopped at 120k about 6k ago)
--Paint has some defects but not bad for age
-crack in lower left corner of windshield not visible from inside.
-one crack on driver seat leather. Is patched
THE GOOD!--
YOU WONT FIND RUST HERE--body is made of aluminum so you won't find any body rust probably ever
-Interior is in good shape has mostly been recovered. These cars are known for cracked leather and plastic at this age.
-The engine runs great, -has a very nice sounding full stainless exhaust (headers back welded not bolted)
-Power windows, driver seat, moon roof, mirrors and rear hatch lock all work great
-Rear tires like new
-clutch is fairly new and shifts great all gears
-No engine/warning lights

Similar to the Glen for me. The 356 by anybody's rules had the corner and the Yenko should have backed off, but there was no reason for the 356 to come in so tight to the corner if he knew the Yenko was around. Yenko was at fault. Either car could have avoided it.
