OK, so my winter projects ran over into spring, but the 914-6 is finally back on the streets (alignment still to be done next week at ASG).

Front end before, Boge struts, M calipers, 17.9mm torsion bars, under-the-body swaybar, 15x5.5 fuchs on the front:



After Bilstein struts with new inserts, Rebuilt S calipers, Turbo tie rods, 21mm torsion bars, 19mm through-the-body sway bar with adjustable drop links, rack spacers, poly street bushings, new ball joints, new 19mm master cylinder:





Refinished 15x6 deep dish Fuchs on the front:



Finally refinshed the targa top with new seals and a coat of paint:


And I converted to a movable passenger seat (although I still have a bracket to fabricate):


Also replaced the bushings in the shift linkage (every little bit helps the 901 in a 914)

whew! i thought maybe you left some irish green paint somewhere in NOVA!

2 questions: you didn't originally have a front sway bar and had to drill the thru holes? how did you know where to locate the holes? pattern from PP BBS?

doesn't the turbo tie rods (i have to replace one on my car) require a BFW, that is, a "large wrench" (is it 36mm?) to tighten the tie rod? what did you use?

Thanks Guys, I'm just glad I finished in time for driving season.....

Chris - It wont stay clean for long, but I'll always have that picture!

William - I had an end of project cleansing, picked up the garage, cleaned up my tools, bandaged my tattered hands, and apologized to the neighbors for the perfuse swearing late into the nights.

Jim - 1) The swaybar came with instructions for drilling the holes, and if you look at the "after" pic before the struts were installed you should be able to see a raised area (crescent shaped) in the inner fender well, it starts just above the mounting triangle. I believe the instructions were to mount the brackets centered within that area, a 1/2" below the crest.

2) I used a bike spanner wrench (which you are welcome to borrow) I believe it was 32mm, but not positive.

Overall, it was a relatively easy project, just time consuming if you plan on stripping all the pieces and refinishing them, but well worth the effort.
