Default 3.0 Liter Settlement Process

I went to Porsche of Tysons last Thursday for Day 2 of the 3.0L settlement appointments. They have to take 6 pictures (2 int, 2 ext, 2 VIN) plus your DL and upload them while you watch. Supposedly. Was told everything was fine, expect payment notice in at MOST 3 business days.

On the 3rd biz day (today), got an email that the info I provided in person doesn't match what I recorded online so my payment was cancelled. I have to reschedule an appointment. What - to give them the same info again? So I called the hotline.

I'm asked if the person who helped me took pictures of the vehicle. Yes. Of the door jamb where the VIN is? Yes, I watched. Well, it's not in the file. Well, that sure as hell isn't my fault.

It then took the hotline person 10 minutes on hold with a supervisor to discover this is a "known issue" that is their "highest priority right now. This happened to a lot of people." WTF. They may or may not discover our pic lost in the sea of other lost files. Their IT department is "working on it" and I will supposedly hear this week if they find it. Or if I have to go in AGAIN and restart the process. I even asked if I could just take a picture of the bleeping door jamb and send it. Of course not.

Thus begins the 3.0 BS, no better than the 2.0 process started.

I suspect they honed this process on the VW refunds, and are fine-tuning for the upcoming round of Porsche diesel claims.

If you like your diesel, why not just keep it? ...not sure if you like it or not...

This has nothing to do with buyback.

Maybe a little back story would help everyone understand what you are venting about. I don't have a clue, but that doesn't mean anything...

^ Isn't it obvious form the original post. Customer service issues with the settlement process. I'd be pissed also if I had to go back again. I'm about to start the process for mine (keeping mine, I love it).

Those of us without a diesel don't know what the 'settlement process' is.

I thought it was part of the buy-back that gets all the press.
Is the settlement have to do with an ECU flash?

Hell, many here have 3.0L motors, but they happen to run on gas and are cooled by air and oil. I personally did not know what it was about (the diesel issue vs some other motor issue), which is why I indicated Porsche might be practicing the VW method of refunds in prep for their upcoming diesel recall. With the various motor issues in 996s, Boxsters, etc., and the car-oriented slant of this forum, guessing that it is about diesels is not a high probability.
