Default Refinishing Fuchs

Anyone decent around? I have heard of the Wheel Shop (?) near Baltimore and Wheelworx (location?), but I don't know anything about them. I want something like the original factory finish but don't feel like shipping that much weight and bulk.

David,

I took a friend to Wheelworx a couple weeks ago to get his BMW rim fixed (bent). I asked them about refinishing Fuchs (polishing and clearcoating). After hearing 2 guys bicker about the best procedure for polishing/clearcoating Fuchs, either they take their Fuchs very seriously, or they don't know s***. At $120 per wheel, its way cheaper to send to Al Reed.

BTW: His bimmer wheel did turn out pretty nice.

David,
Ye Olde Wheel Shoppe does excellent work (off Rt. 100 near Baltimore)
And their prices are very fair.
However, the owner is a real first class ***hole.
Maybe you'll have better luck..

If you're serious about going there, send me a PM - and i'll give you some advice on how to avoid an unpleasurable experience.

David,

I sent a pair to Al Reed to restore to factory finish. Shipping is $40 each way, including $1000 insurance (these are early 6x15 Fuch). Al charged $105 per wheel. At this moment they're in UPS custody on their way home. I'll post pictures after they arrive. You're welcome to come by for a closer look.

Greg

Stacked in a medium U-Haul box (I moved last June), a sheet of cardboard in between and some packing around to keep'em from bouncing around. Note, they looked like crap so I wasn't too concerned. Hopefully, Al did a better job on the return.

So Greg, it cost $185 per wheel, including shipping?

Jim, $105 per wheel, plus shipping (~$40 each way). $290 total.
