Welcome, Dan. There are a handful of SoMd Dorkis, so hopefully you'll get to meet some of them.

Hey Dan, welcome to the nut house. There seem to be more and more 964 guys. I just bought one about 4 months ago myself.

I drive a 2006 speed yellow Cayman S, the one with the primer front bumper cover, soon to be repainted. I am also an instructor. I think I may be more infamously known as the guy who drove chopper dropper into the tire wall at VIR turn 5A a few years ago. hence the primer bumper cover. But to my defense B-Man told me in order to get promoted you have to show calm nerves with any off track excursion or as as you crash, done. I did get promoted...eventually. I also have a 1989 911 Cab in guards red with black top, my favorite and most reliable car ever.
This is a great site with extremely knowledgable and witty members, love it.
Dave, sorry but I have to ask if your avatar is a picture of you or Chopper Dropper during your excursion?

Been lurking for a few weeks and enjoying the site, so time to “introdouche” myself. Erik. Vienna. My dad’s first career was as a Porsche mechanic and my first ride (1965, in utero) was in a customer’s 912: Jackie Jensen of the Red Sox. An earliest memory: a 32-hour coast-to-coast trip in the jump seats (look, Ma, no Hans!) of our ‘68 911S soft-window targa. Worst mistake: dad sold his 59 Carrera GT Speedster for $5k in the early 70s. With a divorce, Porsches disappeared. The first draft of my college essay went like this: “The reason I’d like to attend your fine institution is so a I can someday afford a 911.” Mom convinced me that a modest tweak (new subject: how great it would have been to meet Ghandi) would play better … I’m still not sure about that. In 2007, David Gast invited me to “Taste of the Track” (RIP); I bought my first Porsche and started DE a few months later. It’s the most fun I have; great people. Thanks for Dorki; I won’t comment much but love reading it.

Another lurker introducing myself here - great looking community on here. Met a few of you all last weekend at Zone2 at VIR.

I'm out of Towson. Ive progressed through the various german makes - starting with VWs, then to audis, then to benzes, then to bmws, and finally hit porsche last summer. Got the Porsche bug from my grandfather, and he is loving that Ive gotten into doing DEs recently.

Plan to meet many of you at DEs. Ill be the idiot bringing the benz to the track

Welcome Fraser and Erik. Great to see more DE guys joining Dorki. Fraser, good chatting with you this weekend and thanks for letting us heckle the body roll. (I was the guy with the cowboy hat not actually driving this weekend).

good to meet you Colin - I'm sure it was just the tip of the iceberg on heckling.
