For you billet fetishists out there a nice shiny 6 inch O-berg filter. A metal and filter screen sandwich of sorts with good flow. They are also easy to open and see what it trapped. Easy to make too. Start with 6 inch block of metal and machine 92% of it away.

Ecurie Racing runs them in their 356s. Typically located off of the front fender oil cooler lines, under the hood, in front of the fuel cell for easy access.
It's a nice setup and unfortunately I've seen them after an engine grenade and the filter really does work! My 356 is plumbed similar [filter under the hood] but have / am using large fram racing orange spin on. Might convert it to o-berg b/c of ease of maintenance and I need some more bling. Wonder which setup weighs more ... |

Put the motor and trans together and then into the car for a fitting while the lucky ones among us were off droving at VIR. Made hard mounts to replace the rubber in the trans and motor mounts. Cut, bent and added reinforcement to the motor cross bar. I can see that the homeboy headers are going to need to be insulated to keep them from cooking the motor. Cut the flanges off the catalytic converter for use in making some tail pipes.
Car is now at 1650 pounds with all the big stuff in place. Only items with much weight left are 1/2 shafts, fire system small battery and the foot well reinforcement tubing. That will put it somewhere around 1780 pounds. There are still abut 100 little items to add along with fluids and larger wheels and tires so the weight will go up quite a bit still. 2000# or less wet is my goal. Top of the motor sure looks a lot cleaner then the bottom. I like the straight up shot. It looks insect or crustacean like. The 911 motors sure look a lot more heavy butt tail dragger than the 912 motors do. Next is fitting up all the sheet metal and rubber for the motor to car seal, plumbing the oil, fuel, brake and fire suppression lines and planning out the electrical layout. Then one more round of metal work, a million little things and then final fit and finish before paint. I expect to be done by March. Which March I don't know.

Kurt, car looks great. I've got a full set of 996TT calipers and rotors if you want to mount up some big brakes. At your weight and power and driving ability you should be able to go past me.
