When I cut the roof off the old #11 to remove the cage, the number of members in the pillars surprised me. Its a fairly complex bunch of folded sections. Welding around the outside is not going to give anything like the structural strength of the original - not even close.

All I can say is wow. First I've heard of this. My favorite part is where police felt threatened by two labradors. What threat? Being licked?

I've got to imagine they get all hyped up before entering a place, similar to the way coaches get HS football players worked into a frenzy. Not a good way to ensure minimal collateral damage.

That's exactly how that dentist/bookie got capped. He was surrendering to the SWAT team that had surrounded him and his home, and one tense officer with his finger on the trigger had a little oopsie.

Take your standard IQ=85, buzz cut, beat up a lot as a kid, po-po, and add an all black wannabe ninja outfit with bullet proof vest, knee pads, and a helmet, plus give him a couple of fire arms and you have a recipe for one over reacting hair trigger indiscriminate killer.
I don't envy the job of a SWAT dude, but lets reserve their use for when we want the targets really fuched up. Nabbing a big box of weed delivered in the mail doesn't seem to warrant this reaction. Maybe a response a bit closer to what Andy Griffith would have done would be a tad better.
