Well, the other evening I started pulling stuff off the engine. The SSI's and muffler came off Saturday, and I've subsequently removed all of the stuff on top. Here's a teaser pic. See all the pics in my photo album in the Dorki Gallery section.
The 73E MFI pump is enroute to H&R Fuel Injection, Bohemia, NY for the rebuild to RS specs. Most folks go with Gus at Pacific Fuel Injection in CA as his name is often bandied about by the West Coast guys on Pelican Parts' BBS. I received a few recommendations to go with Hanz at H&R, with one person noting that Hanz took great delight telling that Gus calls him up every now and then to ask him a question. OK, fine. Hanz hasn't jacked up his prices a bunch in the past year like Gus has, so with the better pricing and the East Coast shipping, it was a no-brainer (or so I hope

).
The set of 72-73T MFI stacks & throttle bodies that I bought a while back are being upgraded to RS specs at Eurometrix. This conversion to RS specs isn't for the faint of wallet and makes a lot of people hesitant to use MFI for the 2.7RS. After driving this 73E for nearly two years, it's clear to me the MFI is a hoot. Also, it aint a
real 2.7RS unless it has MFI as this engine came from the factory. I sure can't wait for the 2.7RS/MFI shakedown in a few months.
I have a few more phone calls to make to finalize my decision on a machine shop to work with. I'll also continue with the engine teardown this weekend and post the next installment of this DiY project early next week. Feel free to stop by to see how I'm doing and thanks for watching.
