Default Targa Top Seal Replacement

I've got a 78 SC Targa that showed some leaking near the top corners
of the side windows in one of last week's rainstorms and it looks like
the Targa top seals need replacing. Anyone done this recently and is
it as simple as 101 Projects makes out? Also note Pelican has the side
seals (most likely culprit given leak locations) for $125 while
Perormance has what appears to be same seals for $166 each. Any
advice or tips on this will be most appreciated before I start ripping
out the rubber.
Jack

No help with the install, but dont forget Performance offers a PCA discount and their shipping is well, 1000% better than PP.

Jack:

Yes & No.

I have replaced my side and front seals. Unfortunately, some of the parts have been superceded (side seals). The front seal has to be modified (x-acto knived) in places (corner where turns up door jam and across top) as do the side seals (at the rear where they press against the rear targa [roll bar] seal).

I think Charlie S. has written up these mods or did them recently. I reinstalled my original front seal (door jams and across the targa top) after the replacement I got from Performance or PP didn't really fit that well. I'll give it a go again sometime in the future but, is OK for now.

If you can swing it ... I would get the factory rubber / seals as they seem to have less fitment problems. This really only seems to crop up with the pre- '84 cars.

Check vertex price. I'm pretty sure all they do is porche oem rubber.
I bought most of my rubber for my restoration there. They have a prefered member discount of 10 % of their already low prices. %15 on rebuilt stuff.
I think the membership is $35 a year, but I don't recall them ever charging me a second time.
They do att some reduculous handiling charge. But I think it's still lower than others.
Good luck. Post some pictures!
