Default Colored spark plug wires

I've seen spark plug wires in various colors. Is this just "bling" or are they good enough quality for the "zing?" Believe it or not my sole interest in looking into this (and engine tin powder coating) is because Lu likes it. Well, it's her car after all!

Jim,

From what I've heard/read, the Magnecore's are as good or better than the OEM wires. I have not had any problems with mine since I installed. If you want to keep the original look, go for OEM, otherwise Magnecore.

The Magnecores I have for sale will fit your 73. Check the 'Parts for Sale'.

BTW: The bearings we talked about WILL NOT FIT!!

Jim, The Magnecores are supposed to provide a stronger current to spark, or at least be more resistant to interference, as well as make a fashion statement. They definitely look cool on RL's Carrera engine.

They are a little harder to install if you have A/C, so I figure I can wait until I do my valves or that top-end rebuild some think is in my future.

One way or another, they'll give your engine the juice. Don't know if they make them in aubergine, however.

Default magnecore prices

I'm due for a set of wires. How much would a set cost and who has the best prices on the Magnecores.

Thanks,
Ted

Mine were $160 from Pelican, and I bought them mainly because they are a lot cheaper than the factory wires ($236). My car ran smoother afterward, but I suspect that was by virtue of replacing 18 yr old ignition wires, not because they were Magnecors. The Magencor box even says as much!

You could probably find them cheaper, but I was ordering a bunch of stuff, and being lazy, I didn't feel like shopping around.

Last week I installed 8.5mm Magnecors on the T and was rewarded with a quite obvious improvement in high-rpm smoothness, say 5k to 7k. Expensive, but well worth it!
