For all the new Dorki starting DE this season, and anyone that wants to brush up on terms and check lists, take a look at The DE Handbook prepared by Gary Church.

This will give you everything you need to know but were afraid to ask, a great set of checklists, and a terrific glossary of terms which will help you understand the strange lingo spoken at the track.

As a new comer to the Dorki site, I was thinking it might be fun to venture out to SP this weekend and take in the adventure (smell the fumes) as well as take some digital photos. I got a Canon D-Rebel at Christmas with a 500 mm telephoto that I'm just learning to use and would appreciate tagging along if Kurt is willing to show the sweet spots.

What is the schedule ? and what do I need to get in (other than the snow blower, gas grill, sausages, fondue pot, esspresso machine)?

As cold as it's going to be, you might consider a second battery for the camera.

This is a good list, Keith. Come on out and join the fun. Bring all that stuff and look for a beige 85 Carrera, and set up next to it .

For drivers, Grid Tech runs from 7-8, meetings for various groups until about 9:00, and run groups start. White, Red, Black, Blue, Green every 25 minutes. There are enough guys in the group at different levels that there should always be someone in the paddock during run sessions.

My to bring list includes an empty 55 gallon drum and some wood/paper to burn to keep warm. I mean, if we're going to call it the Dorki ghetto, might as well make it look like the ghetto. If it gets cold enough, watch your floorboard, guys (except you, Marc). They're going into the barrel.

Keith, I'm a newbie here in Dorki land too, but I shot the PCA Club Race in '03 while an "off-duty" corner worker. Several nice spots if you bring your long glass. These were all shot with a 5 or a 5 w/a 1.4x converter.

Several spots where an 80-200 will work nicely too. I'm sure Kurt will have some suggestions for locations too!

Michael your photos are awesome! The subjects are really well posed. How did you get them to line up like that for you and wait for you to take the photos :--) I appreciate the offer.

Chris M, do you need any old Christmas trees to fuel the 55 gallon drum fire?

Nah, I think we'll be good stealing peoples floorboards. But, if you have some Thunderbird or MD 20/20, do bring some to share while huddled around the barrel. Brown paper bag optional.
