To all of you mid-to-late 2000's water-cooled owners, where do you take your car for maintenance?
As a prior air-cooled only owner taking the plunge w/ a 987.2 Boxster S, I would like to get some Beltway or inside the Beltway shop recommendations. I used an independent (Russel Kessler) in Falls Church for all my a/c cars, but he doesn't do w/c. Open to shops large and small with the primary criteria being a) are they good; and b) are they a good VALUE (capability, labor rates, availability of appts, etc.) Thanks, John

Honestly, good luck with 'inside the Beltway', as all of the Porsche indy shops are outside.
There are plenty of good shops, but to address your item b), all have some disgruntled customers. It is pretty much impossible not to, especially when you consider that owners of cars like Porsches tend to want to feel a little more special then the typical Nissan owner. For real personal service, consider Matt de Maria. and Roger Bratter in Gaithersburg has a very small shop (AutoTherapy). in VA, Jose Herceg probably has the most personal shop (Autobahn, in Fairfax). Intersport, IMA, ASG, Taylor Chapman, etc. are all a little bit bigger. As far as costs go, I doubt any of them are less than $135/ hr these days.

FWIW, some of the shops are close'ish to a Metro Station, and can facilitate transportation to & from, if its not a "wait" service.
