For what it's worth, here's what I have done for my street/track 996:
I have Sparco seats with mounts fabricated by Piper. I have a pair of seat belt receptacles and a pair of "male" inserts that go into receptacles (the part of the seat belt that you insert into the receptacle, but without the belt). I purchased these for a total of something like $30 from a parts recycler. These live in the space under the seats and are plugged into the electrical connector. So, the car always thinks that me and a passenger are buckled in. Right now, the stock seats are in. When it is time to get ready for a track weekend, I remove four bolts to remove each seat (the receptacles remain attached to the seats), then install the Sparcos with four bolts. I can do this in about fifteen minutes, and no airbag lights to worry about. The reverse is just as easy.
