I think initially he was not clear that whoever made it to his house with cash could take whichever items they wanted, even if others had already chimed in via post, PM, text, etc... I lost out on the jack/ jackstands the same way. Can't say I blame him since it sounds like he found himeslef in an 11th hour emergency home clean-up so the house can go on the market, but definitely could have been explained better.

While I agree Chamilka could have worded this better/handled it better, he's like one of the nicest guys in the world (perhaps after Jerome W), so I'd cut him some slack.

Hey Bill, I'm the culprit! I completely missed this thread and therefore didn't see Chamilka had posted the tank for sale on Dorki.

I actually live very near Chamilka; last week he sent me a text telling me he would need to be selling his stuff for a quick sale since he's moving to CA. Anyway, I had had my eye on that tank for a while (since the last time I was at his house and found out he wanted to get rid of it) and when I popped on by yesterday to see what he had, I just snagged the air tank along with the other stuff I picked up.

I'll honor your "dibs" if you'd still like the tank. What I was really after was that gauge/chuck combo but I'm happy to cough it up if you would still like it. I can bring it to the next event; I gave him $100 for it.

Apologies for the toe-stepping. Hadn't realized there was a thread on Dorki. Chamilka really is a great guy -- he's likely just a bit frazzled from the move.

Hey Collin. Thanks for the offer, but that's not necessary. If he'd put something like "must sell in hurry, first one to get here with cash gets it" in the post, it would have been fine. But, it just looked like a normal for-sale ad, and I thought normal Dorki practices would apply.

It may still work out for the best. My wife has been after me for suggestions for Father's Day, so I might get "surprised" with a new one....

So...if you already have an air tank, you can make something similar (for almost as much money).
Buy the following items:
Longacre Quick Fill Tire Pressure Gauge (the same one as on this tank).
Various air quick-releases
"T" fitting
Shut-off valve (you could forego this and the "T" and just fill through your quick-release)
Short hose with 1/4" NPT fittings (also available in 3/8)

Set up so the "T" comes off to the valve and a quick-release male. That's your fill (<15 seconds for full fill). I put a quick-release female on the end of the short hose and on the gauge, but I actually put a female on the gauge so it wouldn't leak, and use a male-male adapter between them. PROBABLY don't need to do that - just put a male on the gauge. I'll try to post a photo later. Great deal if you already have the tank.

Another thing I learned at SCCA. If you have a small compressor system, you can hook up your air tank to increase capacity of the system (hook up in parallel) so you can use air tools.

If you want to run air tools at the track for a race weekend best option is a full-size nitrogen bottle strapped to your trailer. There is a thread about this somewhere on Dorkiphus from ~6 months ago.

Sure thing, no problem. Agree that it was ambiguous. Well, I hope you do get one for Father's Day -- and at the very least, I will be sure to bring it to the next event to rub it in your face! (kidding... )

Agree. And almost got one when I showed up at the Watkins Glen club race in 2013 and someone had left a G-tank there... But I already have the small compressor and extra tank, and I-R cordless impact wrench (for the most used tool). I watched this work very well at the SCCA and I'm not a pro team or expensive support.

I just seeing rest of the thread – please accept my apologies for the miscommunication, when I said first come first serve: I meant whoever comes home first and grab it as I need to free up the house, I pretty much gave bag loads of tools free didn’t even have time to post.
