Default G class 964 C2 and RSA rules change : )

6. Because the non-powered RS America steering rack is no longer available from Porsche, RS Americas and cars running as RS Americas (any 964 C2 converted from power steering) may run the C2 power steering rack. Owners of 964 C2s will note that this removes what had been the sole difference between these models, putting owners in the unique position of running these cars in two base stock classes depending on weight as a result of the decision long ago to give RSA owners this option.

RSAs and 964s are now considered the same as they always should have been IMO. The story is one of the early CR brass wanted to race his RSA at an empty weight of 2,760 which put him in old D class. AFAIK that weight doesn't appear anywhere in any Porsche pubs and C2s were given an empty weight of 3,060 (IIRC) and were in the old E class. IIRC the published weight of the RSA was around 2,950 empty not 2,760 but now there are many RSAs/964s at the lighter weight. All the classes have been realigned since then and added 150#s to the empty weights.

The more cars (that properly fit - p/w) in G the better so this is as it should have been.

Everything is right in the G class/964 world now and we get wider wheels to boot. Too bad I never picked up my barrels from Radial when I went from 9s/10s to 8s/9s and now I will have to re-buy. ...but will probably just leave as is for a while.

If I go to power steering it will be after brake and trans cooling and probably a JRZ refresh and then maybe wider wheels, so not anytime soon.

We have Charlie and Omar to thank for this rule change - they were lobbying hard and made a great case.

Trak Ratt has one HoF thread

Mines tagged and is driven some. Mostly for test and tune and the occasional local car shows...
Not sure it could actually pass a VA inspection though

Late to this party, but both of these changes really don't mean squat other than it means there are now less people bending the rules. Neither of these rules were really being enforced anyways.

I'd like to see them make stock classes use factory spring rates and stock valving.
