Good man. While this has no bearing on my reluctance to sell the premuff, I had over 10 years of track experience when I got my Carrera. I drove it for the 1st few days with 11 year old tires and OEM suspension to get used to the unique handling. I did not modify the suspension for a couple seasons till I felt I was really getting all that was there out of it as is. Then came a chip and I still have not felt the need to modify the brakes or exhaust. I've had mine over 5 years and have around 40 days in this car.

Geez, if you want to put an aftermarket chip in it, just do it. It's not like you're super/turbo charging the thing. The small increase in HP on the car will certainly not make it dangerous for a novice to learn to drive on the track. I mean look at some of the ridiculous high HP cars that run in the green/blue groups.

I would also recommend getting the exhaust you want first, then getting the chip programmed for that setup. The local tuner who can optimize the chip while on a dyno is by far the best choice (as with most things, you get what you pay for).

Im w/ Josh on this one. Buy a muffler because they sound good and makes you smile every time you start the car. Though, I'd get a SW chip. I would not pay 2x for custom if you aren't racing. What do you care for the last couple hp gain?

There is merit to not modifying your car or running R-comps right away. But, driving a stock 911 forever isn't so hot either. The orig rubber suspensions suck. They're now 2 decades old at a minimum and were designed 1/2 century ago. Whats the point of learning to drive a shitty worn out suspension well? If the bushings are toast (and the most definitely are), put poly ones in. Its a more modern material and will let you be more 'at one' w/ the car and you'll learn faster. 911s are so well developed there are known upgrade paths. Should you rush out and go get coil overs, adjustable shocks, big brakes, etc? No, probably not, but its not an all or nothing situation. Feel free to make sensible upgrades that YOU want to do. Driving a car that handles properly makes learning go faster. Driving on a design that was designed around rubber (bushings AND tires) that existed 60 years ago (and wasn't even state of the art then) is just teaching you to drive a clapped out suspension.

Sports cars are supposed to be fun! Do whatever you like that makes you happy. Fuck the establishment
