At 41 yrs. old i'm a long way from retirement to make dramatic decisions on my retirement finances, so i'm moving forward with my long-term fund investments as normal. 2008 drop took 3-4 years to come back, but over the past 10 years i've made solid gains. For those baby boomers(10,000 a day retiring) these last 4 and the upcoming couple of years can't sit well.

Too much speculation for me to buy stocks right now. In 2008-2010 I put extra into my mortgage payment each month. Paying less interest on a mortgage is a guaranteed money maker in the long-term.

Direct investment in Concho y Toro (NYSE:VCO); then re-invest dividends in the DRIP. Current div 1.3%ish.

Diversify, rebalance from time to time and lower your blood pressure. Don't try to time the market. Just my opinion.

How about real estate? I would think given the current and recent economy, and with many out of work or underemployed, rental property would be a good investment, or at least a hedge to avoid losing the investment...? I believe with the future "mobile workforce" prediction and ongoing poor economic situation, folks will want to rent whereas in the past they may have wanted to own.

Other areas to invest in may be any services related to caring or helping out all the old baby boomers who will soon be getting too old to want to worry about taking care of as many day to day things as they used to. What do you all think?

Perhaps companies related to employment for old people who still want to work and find retirement boring ...?

Early model 911's are going up 10 to 12% per year. All air cooled models are close to that.

I'm stuffing all my money in my mattress.

Investments? Well, health insurance companies might be a good idea.... the law says everyone has to have it, guaranteed customers = guaranteed profits.....
