if you are thinking about DEs, be sure to sign up for the HPDC as it is a prerequisite for the DE. There are typically only 1 or 2 HPDCs a year, so make sure you sign up early. Another option is to do a few (3?) autocrosses with PCA which can be a substitute for HPDC, however, the HPDC is really a great way to test the waters and find out if you really want to DE or not.
