From an owner: Remove wheels, looky-see, install new nuts with torque markings.

Sounds like an ineffective fix; were Clarke's nuts loose (insert joke here)? Also sounds like a good source of spare wheel nuts for racers.

"Too" ether way can cause failures. Racing format CL is not same as the ones in question. Porsche had to design a CL system that was weather proof. the Cl system on the cups gets serviced often and the street based system had to be set up so it could sit wet or dry for many months or years between removal and reinstall.

I got a goofy idea, lets bolt the wheels on with, oh, lets say 5 smaller simpler nuts and bolts rather than one in the center. Larger holding pattern less concentration of stress to the hub and wheel. Stronger system reduced weight and simpler install and removal. Removal and install usses standard tooling too.

puh-leaze....so uncool. who cares if it works better in every way possible for a street car.

Even the Brit's did away with CL in the '70s.... Live, learn..... learn again. Checking CLs each morning at tech, sticker tells pit out that at least they are set right no comment on torque settings

Bottom lne for me is drover responsible for car and actions. We're just trying to at least verify they won't just fall off on track.

I think this still needs more thought.

Those were the days when correct torque value was the right number of blows from the appropriate rubber mallet. I suspect less wheels fell off then than now.

Yes, my car came with the updated nut's. The new nuts do not have torque value's on them. Otherwise they are the same, not difference in parts.
