Tony - or anyone,

Is there a way to mount this in an 'approved' fashion for DE use without a roll bar?

Thanks,
Josh

Great camera, great video. Greg has one in his car. We tested the Go Pro, Contour, and Replay XD1080 side by side, and the Contour ran a close second to the XD1080

Maybe, but then it would be helpful to know what car you want to mount it to

There's a reason why folk are encouraged to add at least their first name and car in their sig

Sorry about that, it's a 996 GT3 with the euro seats.

helmet cam.

or there's also a Brey Krause harness bar you can get that isn't a cage or anything too intrusive to mount a camera too.

Cool, thanks. Is there a strap or something specific you would recommend for helmet mounting? I have a recent Bell M4 helmet.

All the late model cams (Contour, Hero, Replay) come with helmet mounting solutions. Not the Aiptek as far as I know. But I don't think I'd like the result for in-car video. You really want a sturdy, fixed position. A harness bar is a good solution.

^ +1 on the harness bar.
Helmet mounted cameras in-car can produce video that's barely watchable.

x2. didn't mean to imply using aiptek for helmet cam. that'd be lulzy though.

lipstick cam would work great on the BK bars. and not totally destory the useability of the back seat area for storage. although with bucket GT3 seats, i'd think access to the rear is already minimized. so if frequently tracking, you might want to consider a half cage in the back for added safety.

Well if I'm going to get a harness bar, I might as well spring for the DAS bolt-in roll bar ... always looking for excuses to spend money!
