Aiptek HD

Just an FYI, I have to replace my old one and this one seems to be priced right.

I have an Aiptek 720P HD with 1G internal memory (model V5T6) that you have. I haven't used it in a couple of years.

Yep, cheep and they work well.

The Aipteks were great three years ago, and just about the only half decent HD camera sub $500 back then. Things are different now. If you are after a nice HD camera for in-car use, the Contour HD is selling for $139, which is a killer deal.
Great camera, great video. Greg has one in his car. We tested the Go Pro, Contour, and Replay XD1080 side by side, and the Contour ran a close second to the XD1080

I've never used one, but wong has broken the tripod mount off several of them. They stick up high off the mount and the vibration eventually cracked them all at the threads.

my tripod mount has broken as well, easy fix though.
little superglue keeps it back in there
buy an L shaped piece of metal (usually for bracing) at HD or lowes for like 1.34 and then use either velcro or a zip tie to secure the top of the camera to it.

i had to drill the bottom of the L so the I/O port screw could come thru, but it is really stable (look at my VIR video) and you dont have to tighten it a rediculous amount because the L goes accross the entire I/O port rather than sinking into the rubber pad.
I also used some gasket material below the camera to act as a stabilizer.

Ya, I recall you telling us that at white safety meeting .....my brain has a disconnect at times and this is one of them.
Greg's video is really nice and shows the cockpit as well, live and learn.
