Default Folding seats and harnesses

I inquired at OG on folding Sparcos and Scott replied the PCA may restrict using 5-6 point harness with folding seats. Anyone know if this is true, I want to retain access to the back seat for drive in movies....

Must be a shell for Club Racing, but so far folding is acceptable for drivers ed.

I know folding seats are fine for DE, the question I have is weather you can use harness's with them. The thing with the folding seats is you can safely use 3 points with them and still use the car for street and pop in the harness for the DE weekends. I currently have no plans (read funds) for CR so it's going to be DE's for the immediate future for me.

Do any of the Sparco folders have the hole for the sub belt? If not, that excludes 5/6pt harness right there. I've never seen one w/ the hole.

I don't know if all Sparco foldable seats do not have sub slots, but Corbeau gives you the option If you want it.

Interesting as I am putting sport seats with 6 pt harness in. I ordered Corbeau with the sub belt.

With PCAP Tech hat on:

Folding seats with factory provisions for 5 or 6 point harnesses are acceptable for DEs. L has some in her 964. The one's pictured earlier look ok as long as they have the manufacturer's sub belt hole.

Note: it's also possible to have one piece seats swing up and forward for rear seat access. Early competition seats did this though they didn’t usually have headrests.

However, not ok for club race as someone else stated.

I have a spare folding Sparco, no sub belt.

I would contact the regions you plan to run with to get their 'official' ruling.

Tim mostly runs with PCAP and I gave him the "official ruling!" Can't think of any other non-racing organizations that prohibit these types of seats as long as seat was made for 5 or 6 point harnesses.

BTW I ran for years with stock seats w/harnesses but never really felt secure in the seat. Just fortunate nothing happened. From the standpoint of “been there, done that” the current ruling makes sense to me.
