Shows you that a little info is worse than none. I like to set the bung stand off so the sensor threads don't protrude into the tube. After drilling the hole if the sensor hits the tube rim a little you can run a tap to clear the path. This ends up with less of a gap that seems to build up carbon and help jam the sensor in the bung. This also lets you weld bungs in places you might want to use later while building a pipe up and only need to drill it out if needed.

Got a question: After removing the GHL headers, I held up the new old-style headers for hit. On the driver's side, where the header goes forward and folds upward a bit, it hits a piece of sheet metal at the front of the engine. This specific piece seems separate from what goes around the engine and looks like it would just come off easily, but is there a specific purpose for this?

The real question is: should I take it off or cut away the part where the header would hit it? The sheet metal is marked by the arrow in the photo below.

I just trimmed that piece to clear the header tubes.

I'm pretty messy. Does everybody agree with Josh to cut the tin rather than remove that piece?

Josh had exactly the same problem, solved it, and told you how he did it. That's the guy with both knowledge and experience. Now you want to throw it open to anyone with an opinion? Seriously Pete, are all your decisions made this way?

I know Josh has skills, but there are often several ways to skin a cat, and often reasons for doing one way over another--sometimes one will last longer or reduce future problems that I couldn't begin to think of but others on this board could. I was just hoping for some confirmation before I started cutting (which is not reversible). Didn't mean to dis Josh.
