That was such a fun weekend! It was a good learning experience and now we know how to do better. Our Mazda lost a rotor an hour into day 2. Sorry bout all the smoke. Looking forward to rebuilding it even better. Thinking 13b turbo. My team really put in a hell of an effort.

Sounds like dad's going to have a little red race car for sale soon. BTW, this is hell on old guys, but it was fun to see all the craziness that goes on. There was one car that was being worked on feverishly all day on Saturday.

Your car looked like it was a blast out there. And you were quick with driver changes too. We had a 2:01.3 for our fastest lap, but I don't think our consistency was there. And we had 10-15 minute pit stops. Thankfully we had the cool suit so we could go an hour+ on driver changes.

Good move on the cools suit, we really needed the cool suit. I did the last hour Sat and it was HOT. We added some ducting Sun AM but the car didn't hold up for enough folks to benefit, although I understood that it made a difference.

With 100hp it was tough to keep up with the big engine folks after we had to slow down for them in the corners. Only when we could maintain our pace in the corners could we put down good lap times.

But it was a lot of fun.

IMO, Lemons "parking lot racing" is all about straight line speed (& brakes.) Point & shoot is much easier/safer than being a hero in a corner against a guy who may or may not know you are there.

Nah.. the corners are where all the fun is. The rockets on the straights couldn't keep up with the twisty cars on a per lap basis. Late braking and forcing your way to the inside of each turn was the best way to gain on just about everything. Sure the straight line is the "safe" line, but we wouldn't be strapping our selves into $500 grenades if we were worried about safety. It was thrilling going 2 wide into the Karousel and 3 wide into little bend. You can even get passes in the chicane after the hook when you set yourself up right.

The passing in the corners for me was "all the fun" Remember this was Shenandoah where there is a lot of technical corners to set folks up in. I almost can't think of a corner where I couldn't make a pass happen.

But for every pass that I made there was a pass that I aborted because there would have been contact had I pushed the issue.

PJ -- How did the car compare to your 996? Inquiring minds want to know!
