It was the same time last year....I saw an IRL souvenir hauler on the way up when I was coming back. Blame the Grand Am drivers, they just did their 6 hour. Of course, we could get it after the NASCAR weekend in August. But that's our Porschefest.

Take a look at the WG schedule, they have a club up there *constantly* so likely others are losing out. Hell, while we ate lunch last year, the Corvette club did parade laps.

Summit march event was canceled this year as well for paving. Life moves on.

We've been going to the Glen for years, and I'm not aware of this ever happening before. As mentioned above, the Glen is very professional, and I expect they have a pretty good idea of what needs to be repaired (and allowed to cure) during quieter times, and that this track damage was unexpected. I'll miss the Glen this year (as will my family).

Last year at NJMP I did the DE and we were scheduled for 4 runs per day! Only one run group.

Not sure about Zone 2's event, but would assume the same. Good time and a great chance to see how club racing runs. The one at NJMP this year has plenty of room to date. It's Aug. 27,28,29th. They said they are taking 45 cars.

The DE in conjunction with the race at NJMP actually gets 5 sessions per day. DE drivers get more track time than the racers.

Watkins Glen is one of the most professionally managed tracks in the US. They were extremely apologetic about the need for repairs and offered us the options noted in previous posts. Seems a DE was the catalyst for the repairs. While car clubs make up a significant part of their revenue, the pro races are their bread and butter. We understand this and appreciate the fact they work with us the way they do. As Manny noted, several of the PCA Regions opted not to cancel their dates. Potomac felt otherwise.

Potomac is fortunate to have a great date at Watkins Glen. We had the July 4 weekend for several years before IRL took the date. But WG worked with us and gave us the date we currently have. DE scheduling is a complex issue because there are so many pro races and other car clubs and driving clubs offering DE's.

We are fortunate to have long standing, well run DE program that offer our membership weekend dates on all the tracks we use. This is an unusual circumstance. If we started to move the dates around, chances are would end up having weekday dates instead of weekend dates.
