As for pads, I've had good luck with Hawks. I've used both the HP+ (good street pad) and the HPS (Street/track combo pad) on the track without a problem. Both work fine on the street but the HPS's make some noise and a bit more dust.

I would say get some decent street tires and brake pads, flush your brake fluid, fix the fuel line and sign up.
I think you've got the descriptions backwards on the Hawks. I have the HP+ in the '44 and they've been fine street/track, but noisy. Had them on the bmw also, but they wouldn't stop it at the track and mad a ton of noise on the street. Went back to pure street on the bmw and will go track compound if it ever sees track time again.

Steve -- Tech requirements for HPDC are less then for DEs, as speeds are lower, there's less track time, etc. You basically have to pass a 'grid tech', as opposed to a full tech on a lift at a shop, plus a grid tech like you do for a DE.

.
Apples to apples. TrackDaz's HPDC = PCA DEs.

Related question.

On the registration at the bottom there is "Current Balance Due".

I've been accepted for one, pending another. Do I need to do something else to pay? Or will they process day of event or something like that?

I just don't want to show up and learn that I needed to do something further.

If you have a credit card on file they will charge it about 10 days before the event. Nothing for you to do.

He WAS asking about tech for PCA HPDC. And the tech requirements are less stringent then for a DE.

I'm surprised leaks aren't a serious concern since they could cause someone else to go into the wall. Or is that the reason they are of no concern to YOU ?

I ran Hawk HPS pads on my STI at Summit main and they seemed fine so I think I am going to go with them.

As for tires, I have 16" S2 wheels on the car and am leaning toward the Direzza Z1's but may give the Hancook's a try. I ran PZero's on the STI and they seemed to grease up after 4-5 laps. I've heard good things about the Z1's. Less power and weight in the 944 should make the tires last for a session.

I'm not sure I will make the HPDC due to funds. If there are open slots in a few weeks and things are looking better w/ acquiring pads, tires, fuel line, tune up kit, etc then maybe. Otherwise I will come down to observe and ask dumb 944 questions.
