Life's been complicated.....but that's not an excuse.

I've got a schedule put together, just haven't posted it yet. You will see it posted within the next 1-2 weeks. However, for those that are interested in doing our Autox School. it will take place on Sunday, April 5th. It will be held this year at Summit Point's newest facility, the Washington Circuit (previously known as the Triple Skid Pad). The first Autox will be at the end of April, with 1 event per month thereafter through October.

If anyone is interested in being on this year's Autocross Committee, we are looking for volunteers to help run our events, particularly things like course design, tech, event setup, registration, etc. If you're interested, send me an email at autocross@pcapotomac.org.

Hmm... looks like Autox school is on the same day as the HPDC? Wanted to do both, guess I'll have to choose one.

Actually, just checked: the HPDC says both "Saturday" and "April 5" on the potomac pca website. Maybe they actually are on two separate days.

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll try to get it fixed. The HPDC is supposed to be on Sat Apr 4th on JC, and Autox School is on Sunday Apr 5th on WC.

UPDATE: I just noticed that what you're looking at, as of today 1/9/09, is the 2008 DE Schedule. It appears that none of the 2009 event schedules are posted online yet. Actually, a calendar planning meeting occurred earlier this week with all the program chairs. A complete list of 2009 activities should be posted very soon on the PCA Potomac website.

The earlier post on Dorki (http://dorkiphus.net/porsche/showthr...track+schedule) does show the correct dates for 2009.

The Autox School is NOT a prerequisite for doing Autox's. But, if you've never done an autox before, it is highly recommended to do the school. We can offer assistance to newbies at regular autox events, including having a veteran cone-head ride with you. But you get a LOT more 1-on-1 attention at the school.

Note that the Autox School is not a substitute for the HPDC relative to DE track event participation.

Ummm...would that be the schedule that is titled "2008 DE EVENT SCHEDULE "?
The 2009 DE Schedule has been posted here and on the Porsche Talk forum, but has not yet made it to the PCAP web site. I'll try to fix that over the weekend if I get a bit of time. It includes HPDC April 4 Sat Jefferson Circuit.

Even though not required would be good for even those with just a couple of events under their belts.

A couple of years ago the AutoX school had a fair bit of classroom time at the cost of seat time. Last year it was biased towards more seat time (well, except for a few short meetings between excercises, it was all seat time. I imagine that the WC (water closet? Washington Circuit?) may lend itself to a more "seat time" approach, but Tony P would know best.

It might be really cool if we could use the WC for the "porschefest" weekend in August

  • WC = Washington Circuit (formerly known as Triple Skid Pad) ...of course this was also mentioned in my first post in this thread.....
  • Planning for this year's Autox School format to be similar "more seat time" approach. And with multiple skidpads at our disposal on WC, I think we'll be able to enhance the teaching even more.
  • WC for PorscheFest weekend.......distinct possibility
  • And...how about WC for another of our events, with a bit of Test & Tune time in the morning, before setting up the official timed course?
I think the coneheads will be happy in 2009!
