tdatk has one HoF thread
Default Scirocco , not available in the US

Volkswagen’s Scirocco, the latest version of the sport economy car first introduced in 1974, will go on sale Aug. 29 in Germany and Britain, and in the rest of Europe by November. VW plans to export the car to Japan in 2009 and has also designed it to meet U.S. requirements, just in case. But at current exchange rates VW can’t make a profit selling the $33,000 car in the U.S

I like it!

Ughhh, looks like a Ford Focus in the back with a squished front end. Keep it in Europe.

They arent selling because they took a good car in the mk4 R32, made it heavier, took away the 6 spd option and then charged more for it. I got to flog one of the mk5s around jefferson last year, and its a fun car, but if I were looking at a new VW it would be the standard mk5.

x2.

I like the Scirocco but VW is charging too much for their cars. They can blame the exchange rate all you like, but they've been getting more expensive for years. Well before the start of the fall of the dollar in 2001/2002.

They are having trouble selling cars, moved their HQ and are trying a number of things, but in the end they need product that is quality and appropriately priced. Things they don't have now.

Yep. That's what they're saying on the Dodge Charger forums. About 911s.

If VW "owns" any territory in the modern car world, it is in the "ricer with dignity" class. Scirocco fits right in. They would be smart to drop the R32 (which is underappreciated) and just bring the Scirocco which might actually sell.

As long as they keep using European labor, they'll have trouble selling at the lower price ranges. I just read a review of the VW Tiguan and a few competitors. But for the price, the Tiguan seemed to be a winner. But the price gap is huge.

Hey be nice I had two VR6 Turbo cars (still have one) and when I need to take one out for a ride most of the time the 930 will stay put in the garage.

The power of these VR6 with the added turbo is unreal.

Ya'll can like your VW's all you want. When you have 2 professional mechanics gagging at the mention of a VW it should tell ya something.
They are the nearest next to nothing ever created by mankind. I am amazed that the company exists.
When my son wrapped my GTI around a tree I was very happy (once I found out he was ok)
You want to piss me off at work, just give me a VW to work on.
Sorry for the rant but I feel much better now.
