Why divide by 10 when you can divide by 12....or 3.....or.....:XX
Afterall, isn't that why they invented these???

It's more like a cubit Mr. "I have a lot to learn about this car" Wasn't your old car a 44? Isn't the new car a 44 with more power? Shouldn't it be faster? What's to learn? You need a better excuses

Construction industry and contractors seemed to put a damper on metric conversion a few years back. Almost all federal agencies required all designs to be prepared in metric, yet when projects go to construction everything is done in english units. Many agencies have finally given up on metric design, but a couple are still at it (Smithsonian, GSA). Fact is, all our manufacturing plants, etc. are set up to produce materials with 'round' english units -- it ain't so easy to change all of that to metric. There is way more involved then just saying something should be 50.8 mm wide instead of two inches -- you actually need to change the dimensions of what you produce to 'hit' a round metric measurement, which requires $$$ in retooling costs, etc.
I think the same people who think switching over should be quick and painless are the same ones who cannot divide by 12, so they need their math simplified

i can't divide by 12, but that doesn't mean i think it would be quick and painless. i actually don't care whether it's quick, painless, or very very expensive. not my problem. what i AM happy about, is the intuitive way of using logic that stems from dealing w/ the metric system.
