Great to hear that Lee! I too have to replace my rear wheel bearings, and I am going to do the fronts as well. Now that it's done we definitely need to see some pics.......

Here's the zinc plated spring plate
after driving it for a month. It needs some pressure washing. The one visible fitting on the oil thermo side- I couldn't snake the camera around. ![]() Now that I photograph it- it looks too high, but I get an occasional driveway scrape on the front hooks now.

It's a silver metallic but the PO painted the whole car a slightly warmer silver met so color matching is tricky. When I painted my air dam and rear valence I had to do a match by taking of the fender valence. They did a pretty good job but my eye still catches it since I'm an art director.
I'll take a photo in daylight and post it soon |

Where did you go to get the zinc plating done? I have a set of spring plates that will arrive shortly. I figured that I was going to have to clean them up before installing, but the zinc plating looks great.

Well the Zinc plating is a tough one. I got it done by a fantastic neighbor across the street that is the CEO of Humanetics, a precision metal works company. He had the parts farmed out to one of his vendors. They did it free. Great guy!
The factory is just stunning. I saw CNC machines, metal punching machines controlled by computers. Lazer beam cutting machines, giant bending brakes and mills-more than one or two in some cases. All of these machines cut parts (mostly prototype parts and short run stuff) at a tolerance of .006. The final assembly of some of the customers products made from the parts they make, assemble (by them) to the same .006 tolerance. I asked if they could ever make custom parts if I gave them a CAD file and they said sure, but they could also scan a prototype part on their laser beam scanner-to .006 tolerance. They do defense work all the way to bar-b-que grills. If you ever invent something and it envolves metal I assure you that you'd want to talk to them. They may not do plating there but they blew my mind with other possibilities. Humanetics 1700 Columbian Club Dr. Carrollton, TX 75006 972 416 1304 www.humanetics.com ISO 9002 Certified. |

I talked to these guys about plating my spring plates when they were off:
Baltimore Chrome & Plating 419 North Exeter Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 Price was about $100. Didn't have them done as I was sick of the project and just wanted the car back together.
