George,

I don't think I can help but are you looking for 911 or 951 16x8 Fuchs?

Why not 16X9's? They're much more available and a better size. The problem with 8's is that the 245 rear tire is a bit wide, but fits a 9 perfectly.

probably b/c there's a $500-$1k difference in that one inch?

as for tire fitment, while not *ideal*, it will be fine. they say the same thing about 225's on 7's and 6's and i've done both w/ zero (discernible) negative effects, especially on the 7"

It seems that 8x16 Fuchs are becoming more rare in the marketplace than 9x16 Fuchs. There are still batches of 9x16 Fuchs being made. I don't believe 8x16 Fuchs are still being made.

My $0.02 - week of 8/26/07 - 16" Fuchs open market selling prices on the Internet - not including auctions:

-New 9x16 Fuchs ~$1700/pair
-Used 9x16 Fuchs ~$1200 - $1500/pair
-Used 911 8x16 Fuchs ~$1000 - $1200/pair
-Used 951 8x16 Fuchs ~$1000/pair (rarer than 911 8x16 Fuchs)
-Used 7x16 Fuchs ~$250 - $300/pair
-Used 6x16 Fuchs ~$250 - $300/pair

My data above is based on what I've seen this week while working out my own deals on a pair of 911 8x16 Fuchs for the front of my widebody project. These prices don't include Dorki discounts or private unadvertised sales. YMMV.

Lupin did not specify they were for the rear -- how do you know these aren't for fronts, and that he doesn't already have 9s on the back?

i think 'regular' 8's are a tough fit up front, that's why the 951's usually go there...?

As Dave said, regular (911) 8s do not fit on the front unless you put some big flares up there.

Eight inch is the measured rim width for Toyo 245/45 16 on the Toyo site. (8) I have used that combination for years on the rear. Others have used it on the front (on the 951 rims); but, on a 911 that is a stretch and requires lots of massaging and negative camber. I have 235s on 8 inch rims on the front now and can see there is sufficient room for going to 245s if the offset and camber are perfect. I still have not determined how folks have wedged 275s into the rear wheel well.
