Default NEW UPDATE: Hi-Torque starter for $149.95

Thanx to some help from the Dorki Clan at Hershey for helping me get my car started. Now I need a starter and might as well buy a hi-torque so anybody have a good (meaning discounted) to get one?

Again, thanx for the help

Thom

After Autozone failing to supply I bought a IMI Hi-Tork starter today for $185 and picked it up in LA. I asked them about a group buy and they will sale 3 or more for $149.95 each. The starter is a #101 which is a 1.1 horse versus a 1.4 horse, they have the higher horse ones they just cost more. The guy at IMI said that unless you are running really high HP you dont need the bigger one and that they use the 1.1 for V8s

See:

Assuming you have a 72-89 911.

Thom, you don't need a high torque starter. What you need is a BFH. It worked at Hershey, didn't it?

If I could teach my 8 year old how to hit it just right that would work, plus she is small enough to get under the car easily. Hhmmm starting to sound feasable already......

Default Found a place to get a deal on the Hi-Tork Starter

Found the place to get the IMI Hi-Tork starter, Autozone!! They sell the PN# 101 which is a little less power than the PN#101N. The guy from IMI said it should be more than enough. Plus they sell then for $199 on the Autozone website with local pick up, much cheaper than pelican. If you buy direct they are $185 but then there is shipping and Autozone gives a lifetime warranty with it, gonna order mine now!!

That's a great price. No surprise they beat pelican. We now know how he affords those hawiian vacations!
