As some of you know I discovered that my right side head end oil return tube seals had somehow split during the rebuild. After driving 400 miles after lifting the engine I decided it was time to stop tempting the oil leak gods and dove in for the replacement.
Here is a link to a picture I just posted on Pelican showing the split seals: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...hreadid=150995 Also included in the picture is the case end of a tube after trying to re-install. Bottom line is that this project should be a no-brainer but when you encounter difficulties like I did last night and today it turns into a freakin' nightmare ! Looks like I can now add this project to the resume BTW, the car is wheels down again and ready to roll thanks to Charlie's tubes he left with me otherwise I'd have been SOL today.

Typical of projects I start into.
-One nut is always bound to strip or bolt break -Always have that one final bolt/nut that I can't seem to get a wrench on -One project leads to another (read: "man I gotta fix that while I have this off"... open can of worms) -Infamous quote "This should take about an hour" -Removal of parts to get to the one I need to work on takes 2 hours, 15 minutes to fix the part I went in for, 3 hours to replace the parts I removed to get at it. -Unknown/un-viewable something holding the part in place making it impossible to remove. -Ahh, half hour (one beer) to let the PB blaster soak in. -20 minutes of hand scrubbing to go in and out of the house. Gotta love it! Good to hear you are back on the road. Gordo |

Great job Doug and Charlie to the rescue!
I didn't know the differnce until I read Doug's post. I only did one side. Doug, FYI mine split in half across the o-ring. Not like yours. I'm glad you fixed it! Don't have to worry about it now! BTW if anyone needs on in an emergency, I have 2 split OEM tubes at home.
