Wow....this thread grew fast!!
The weekend was a blast for me. My first full DE in Black, and it was much better than I anticipated (probably because I got promoted at the very end of last DE last year, and got to run for first time in combined Black/Red session; I felt I getting shot at by all the race cars!! Sorry for the delay getting some pics up. Finally discovered that bandwidth problems on the home network was interfering with the uploads. Once I disconnected the teenagers from the net, all was well Here' a link to the online album from the weekend: http://tonyp.smugmug.com/PCA%20Potomac%20DE/292265 Once again, I couldn't stop clicking...... And a hardy THANK YOU to the Potomac/Founders DE Program for a fantastic weekend!!!!!

It was great seeing everyone again. Four winter months of off-season is so long; I start having track withdrawals after about a month! Yet in four flippin’ months I STILL didn’t get my projects done…dammit!
A fantastic first event and a great way to start the season. Had many fun sessions throughout the weekend; the highlight was the second session Sunday with KJ, Darrell Carlisle and Nando – that was one of the absolute best I’ve ever experienced. Too bad that orange GT3 RS race cars don't come with driver's side windows...or was Nando's arm just too short to be seen? We all ganged up on him and took turns at pressuring him, but he still wouldn’t give any of us a passing signal! Of course, this was his first day in the beast, so in another couple of events he’ll be comfortable with the car and we’ll never have the chance to play with him again. It never ceases to amaze me how much grip you can get in cold weather. It was only 30 degrees in the first Red session on Sunday, and other than the first lap or so, the Hoosiers hooked up and the track never felt slippery (unless you were on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup's - sorry Michael). And Porsche engines do love that cold air! I find myself lowering the temperature where the optimal conditions exist: cold enough for good power and warm enough for good grip. With bright sun and no wind, I think the temp could be as low as 45 degrees and be phenomenal. |
