First DE!

:) I'll start. Had a wonderful time! At times very cold but all the Dorki ran well and some even got promoted. But I'll let them tell their own stories ;)

Great to get back on the track!!! Weather held out .. although a bit cold and a few snowflakes today. New car was amazing on track, but going to take a little time to get used to (I almost had to give RILEY a pass signal the first session :D ... he was running awesome ... and I was a bit tentative). See ya'll at VIR. BlackTalon ... thanks for helping me look for those satellites.

Great times! What did I say? I got back from the last session and everyone was gone. :(

:) Can't blame you, too freaking cold.

Had a great final run with #311 in blue..Maroon Carerra Targa....anyone here? Also, silver #69 GT-3 (Gary, right?) were you running video of the last session?

Ryan, thanks for letting me drive the GT-3....I don't know what TD says, that's a *perfect* car to commute in. :)

Glad to hear all had a safe weekend.

Yes, I good weekend. The 964 will be a nice track car, once it has proper
brake pads [I ate 3 pairs in two days] and RA-1s. Actually an easy car to
drive and the 3.6 is fun. Looking forward to the next outing.

An animal's right to choose... and Caymans are hungry.

Pretty good DE weekend.

Saturday was a beautiful day.

Darn cold today, but the track was very, very good once the tires got warm.

A first for me was dodging the local fauna.

During my final run today, a groundhog decided to cross the T4 chute shortly after I had passed a Cayman S... I saw the critter as he made a run for it out of the tall grass track right. He had a good head of steam and would have easily made it across, but alas he hadn't restored his stamina after a long winter's sleep. He tired and slowed to a crawl about two-thirds of the way across the track. Then he saw me bearing down on him at about 100 mph and did what millions of years of evolution has hardwired into his little brain. Rather then continuing 4 more feet for safety on the left side of the track, he spun around and headed back across to track right. I had already altered course to avoid him and started a very early turn-in for T4. I just barely brushed him as I went by... but the hungry crocodilian behind me swallowed him right up in the center opening of its bumper. I guess the overgrown rat didn't taste too good, since the Cayman spat him right back out just before T4 apex. For the rest of the session, the little furry creature rested peacefully on the tarmac with his four little groundhog paws reaching up towards rodent heaven.

Glad you had a good time. I'm still in the office and am deeply jealous.

It does warm your heart to know he is in a happier place now, doesn't it?

Another interesting moment occured during the first session of the weekend. While slowing for T1, I was surpised to find that my car was stuck in 5th gear. I figured it was better to exit the track safely than risk spinning in T1 or limping around 3/4 of a lap messing up everyone else's run. So I took the access road. Once parked on the skid pad, I had to climb out and go around to the passenger side and knock the lever back into neutral. I didn't use 5th on-track the rest of the weekend, but it felt fine on the street. I think the reverse lockout might need some deburring.

The T1 corner workers never saw me leave the track so they got a bit excited when I appeared at the T2 access road. After a little debate between them and some radio chatter they waved me back on track. http://www.p-car-area-51.com/phpBB2/...n_rolleyes.gif
