One of the wheels on the family car suffered some curb rash. Instead of sending it out for professional refinishing, I opted to repair it myself.
Here is the damaged wheel: I sanded it down a bit and cleaned it with paint thinner. Doesn't look so bad in the picture but it was annoying to me to see it ![]() I applied a bit of spot putty to fill in the scratches: ![]() Here I've sanded down the spot putty: ![]() Here's the first shot of primer. After I shot the primer, I quickly cleaned off the excess overspray surrounding the scratch: ![]() Here's a shot after I applied the Wurth's Silver paint. I applied it using the same technique as the primer. Spray then wipe of excess: ![]() Here's a shot after the Wurth's Clear Coat was applied: ![]() And the final results......very close to matching though not perfect. You can't really tell the area is toched up unless you're looking from less than a foot away. All in all I'm satisfied. Being 19" wheels, I have a feeling I'll be doing touchups once a year. ![]() Thanks to John for the paint![/img]
