So, Anisa and I have decided to buy either a 964 or 993 (so if you have a lead on one, especially one that's DE prepped, let me know).
I'm finding that 964 C2's are incredibly hard to come by, in comparison to 993 C2s, which are about 5x more plentiful on the interwebs. Have Charlie and Omar (and the rest of the PCA racing community) scooped them all up? Or were there just not that many to begin with? Too bad we don't want a C2 Cabrio...now those suckers are a dime a dozen.

Hard part is they were not mass produced like we are used to today
Here is what I found on rennlist after we got ours but there was alot of arguments over the numbers 993 coupe 14541 993 cab 7730 993 Targa 4583 993 C4 coupe 2884 993 C4 cab 1284 993 S coupe 3714 993 C4S coupe 6948 993 Turbo 5978 993 Turbo S 345 993 GT2 172 993 GT2 EVO 21 993 RS 1014 993 GT1 road version 2 Worldwide total 49216 1994: 14 Carrera coupe 3 Carrera Cab Total = 17 (note: These were probably press cars since there wasn't a 1994 993 in the U.S.) 1995: 3,540 Carrera Coupe 539 Carrera 4 Coupe 3,200 Carrera Cab 458 Carrera 4 Cab Total=7,737 1996 2,109 Carrera Coupe 411 Carrera 4 Coupe 1,091 Carrera 4S Coupe 2,092 Carrera Cab 1,297 Turbo 484 Carrera Targa Total=7,484 1997 1,286 Carrera Coupe 1 Carrera 4 Coupe 759 Carrera S Coupe 937 4S Coupe 1,849 Carrera Cab 612 Turbo 176 Turbo S 567 Carrera Targa Total=6,187 1998 1,292 Carrera Coupe 1,059 Carrera Cab 143 Carrera 4 Cab 122 Carrera Targa Total=2,616 Total 993 models brought into the U.S.= 24,041 (officially) C2 S is what we started looking for before the prices went crazy....now they are fetchin really strong numbers (were in the 40s 2 years ago) Being the last of the air cooled, and the fact that many were not treated so well when Porsche prices were relatively cheap.....a good example is getting harder to find, somehow Omar still finds em but if you ask him I'm sure he will say it's not easy. Targa....lots of issues with the tops and really expensive to fix. Cab.....no interest so ? C4 easier to find C4s still slightly easier to find and look great. Turbo.....forgettabout it. And I believe it's 95 and 96 have the non vario ram engine...which is easier to tune Great cars.....except the stupid security system for starting them

I know of a nice 993 with a road illegal motor and a lot of RS parts. Happy to make the introduction and collect my finder's fee.

Yeah, curious how many 964s there are. I have no plans on racing a 964, so I'm struggling to see what the advantage of DE'ing a 964 over a 993 would be, especially since it would also be my DD. 993 has a better suspension geometry, motor, AC, etc.

Definitely interested though. Can you shoot me an email? gcmechler (at) gmail.com Because it's you, I'm interested. How far from being street legal is it? But also knowing you, it's probably a *bit* more extreme than we're looking for...
