Default '02 Boxster S: wheel tire alignment issues

Can anybody recommend a good place to go to get some wheel/tire issues diagnosed? I live in Herndon.

I just got some new tires put on my car and now I've got some troubling WooWooWoo road noise. The problem seems to be getting worse as time goes by (still < 2000 miles on the tires). I suppose (worse case) it could be a bearing, but the coincidence of the noise and the new tires makes me suspect the tires were not balanced correctly when they were mounted.

Any suggestions regarding what I should worry about here would be helpful. I always feel as if I'm at the mercy of the technicians.

Thanks,
-- Jeff.

Some tires make more sound than others. What brand and model tire did you go to and what tire did you have on the car before? Were the tires quiet at first and have gotten louder over time? A ballance issue would likely be felt in the hands. Stop by and I will be glad to drive it. I might not be able to figure out what is wrong but will be glad to take an S for a drive. I don't think they will notice an extra Porsche around here.

If the susp is not lined up corectly the tires can get progresivly louder if they cup or fishscale. Run your hand over the tires in both directions. Can you see or feel that the tread has a saw tooth look to it? Even a slight amount of fishscale will be noisy. This tends to happen to the fronts morer often than to the backs.

And on every GM SUV I've owned / driven Kurt, if you can't determine what the problem is ... stop by my house in FC and I'll "assist" you in your "testing"

Default Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

I just had Pilot Sports on before. The new tires were quiet at first and have gotten louder.

I'll see if I can notice any cupping tonight. If it is cupping casued by an alignment issue, will fixing the alignment fix the problem, or are the tires toast once they cup?

Thanks for the tips and the offer to check the car too. I might take you up on it.
