Any driveway for rent?

Hi Everyone,
I am in need of a space to store any 1971 roller I just bought on ebay, from DC automotive, with the intention of dropping a 3.0SC engine and trans into it. I will be stripping my 78SC targa for parts that I can install onto the 1971T. I only have room to work on one car in my garage and I am looking to rent a space in your driveway for a few months until I get ridd of the SC body. You are more than welcome to claim the SC body and do what ever you need with it. Please let me know if you've got a space in your driveway and how much is the rental fee?. Thanks for all your help. Andy

No driveway sapce here, but looking at the car you bought, looks like you're in for a hell of a project - but a fun one. No sunroof longhood with a big engine... should be nice. You going to go lightweight and put some firberglass fenders on it?

Nice buy Andy. Man, you have too many projects at hand. I might know of someone with space that you can rent if you are interested.

Hey guys,

Chris
Yeah, I have always wanted an early coupe so this is exactly what I was looking for. I'll probably will be doing the FG/carbon hoods and bumpers. I just bought a set of steel fenders for it from Karosserie.

I am going to keep this roller and part out my SC targa. I am going to transfer as much interior and mechanical components as possible from the SC over to this roller and sell then what's left on the targa. I know that the sc brake calibers will be good on the 911T and I am still researching about the gauges and dash.

The drops will be sometimes this summer. I'll keep the list posted. I am still green about how to go about putting a 3.0 into an early car. My guess is that it is not that difficult. I hope I can put the 915 trans into the 71 chassis without major problems.

Unless the ’71 came with “S” calipers you will need to install the struts too. So you should probably install everything except the A arms from the SC. The early A arms have the correct through the body sway bar mount. Not that you can’t add them to the SCs but why bother? All you need for the 915 and 3 Ltr. is a big hammer, 1 or 2 hits on the driver side tunnel by the rear seat tubs and of course the shifter and clutch cable. Note: it might fit without modification but will probably sound just like a rear wheel bearing going bad as the trans works against the tunnel without the extra clearance. The alloy control arms and adjustable spring plates are a nice upgrade in back too. Gages all fit but you will need to run a wire from the trans for the speedo. Seats require an adapter, easily made or get them from Performance or ??. You’ll need to install all the SC FI paraphernalia including the fuel pump unless you switch to carbs. Changing out the electrical panel to the left of the engine simplifies this a lot.

Good choice Andy. Cant wait to see the final product here, I know its a lot of work but well worth the time if your hearts in it.

Hi David,
Wow, thanks for the tips. Can I use the SC (shortshift) shifter assembly and shifting linkage or will I be using 71's shifter and it's linkage?, and can I use the same external oil cooler (trompone style) setup or will I need a new system riged up?.

I am looking at around 12 months to transfer everything from the SC over, now that I am done with the clinical rotations and I am very green on transplating (Porsche engines, that is).
