What's going on with the registration for the Shenandoah circuit DE on 10/30 & 10/31? I noticed that the instructor registration opened Monday, but the driver registration, which is usually open 60 days before the event, now won't open until 9/15, which is only 45 days before. What's up with that?

Also, does anyone think that there's any chance that this event will occur, on the date scheduled?

The DE committee and Potomac officers are still in the process of assesing the SC track and making a determination whether or not to hold the DE. The registration has been changed to allow time for the evaluation. Plan is that several senior instructors will drive the track in the near future and make their recommendations. Once this is completed, the decision will be communicated.

I am I the only one a little miffed about the new track? Hearing about NO runoff and lot's of concrete in your face doesnt go sound like a fun weekend to me. Sure, I want to drive the track, but honestly, I was expecting something a little different.

I really think the focus in the design build was on a "technical" track (read: fun for low and regular HP cars ... not GT1R screamers  ).

Apparently, lower HP cars won't decelerate at the same rate as larger HP cars ... :? and ... uhhmm... therefore will have fewer incidents ... uhhh... resulting in fewer off track excursions ... and .... uhhh .... forget it.

or, maybe the intent was to intimidate the drivers into acting more responsibly on track ... Nah...

And just what, exactly, are you implying ... ?

I suspect the objective was the cram five gallons of track into three gallons of land. So far, its looking exciting enough to have our DE program honchos wanting to test drive and evalauate the track.

We will see what happens after that.
