very sticky wheel weight tape...

my latest find, at least it seems to be working...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...DKIKX0DER&th=1

if only it did not cost so much!

i usually one use one strip, and go 2+ inches over on each end of the wheel weights

i have only used the 2 inch wide

Ooo - I was looking at the same stuff. Even after taping with home depot aluminum tape my weights still flew off at WG. Good to have a data point that the 3M $$ tape actually works. Thanks Otto!

Hmm. I've not had any problems with just using racers tape. Just make sure you clean the area well prior (use brake cleaner).

I stop worrying about weights staying on the wheels since the tires slip on the wheel causing the balance to be off anyway. My rear usually slip 3/4 way around rim...actually that might be one and 3/4 over a 3-day weekend.

i use similar stuff and never had a problem with them coming off but yeah:

i've recently started questioning why i even bother - wheel slip, not to mention all the track rubber/shite that sticks to the wheels during a session, is plenty to throw off balance anyway. oh well.

If you have wheel slip, warm you tires up slower

Or rough up the edge where the bead sits with a media blaster or some such and give the tire something more to grip, many wheel makers now do this for you

Never had an issue with regular aluminum tape and been thru a few sets of tires, mounted and balanced at the track, sometimes minutes before use

This^! Wheel slip is bad. It can be overcome with good methods.

Tried some expensive 3M tape many years ago and it was amazing. Still hasn't come off .

same here. just the aluminum foil ducting tape from hardware store. be using it for decades on race and track cars. zero issues.
