Some will disagree with that. 400 + is the new normal

i have observed the same thing

it would be nice if we could balance the rim before the tire is mounted and just leave it at that

has anyone tried this?

at least the rims would be balanced

all the tires rotate on the rims with hard driving anyway

Absolutely. Now that I think about it, I know quite a few drivers with less than 400hp whom experience tire slip.

I could slip the fronts on the 912. Brakes work independent of motors.

I balance the wheels, tape the weights with name brand HVAC foil tape and mark the weight. I balance the tire tape the weight and mark the tire where the tire weight is on the rim This way I know if it slipped and if so I just move the tire weight to the slip point. For track cars this might or might not matter. Slipping is bad news as it will only get worse. There are plenty of ways to stop it. What depends on the rims and tires

Never had a weight that was foil taped fall off. Scraped some off after putting them in line with the brakes a time or two

my tyres spin on wheels w 300whp and weights never last long

i ignore it. as a friend constantly tells me... shut up and drive.

A tire out of balance enough to feel has measurably less traction.

You certainly can balance the rim! Though the tyre is likely the bigger issue. The "road balancing" is a great idea, especially when combined with Vice's method of marking the tyre and rim. Like VG, good quality tape and don't over think process!!

One lap and you've picked up enough clag to negate most of this thread's info
