I took my parts to Loopers last Mon. They called the next day and said they were done. The guy said I would be really happy. I didn't get to Rockville until yesterday. I was WOW'd. My oil tank, cooler, and thermostat look brand new. I feel like I need to clean the bottom of the car before I put the parts back on. I think the price was fair for the job and for getting them done so quickly. I also figured I would post up their numbers so they would be readily accessible. I dealt with Bill Stone the service manager and he was very professional. Plus they had a early S targa on the lot which was really cool. Here is the info:

They are all back in my dirty car now. It was nice while it lasted.

Just dropped off 3 coolers @ loopers.

Fender:

Setrab
Carerra - Behr

Engine:

Behr

Have two more Behr on-engine coolers to clean / test.

Looper's (http://www.looperrockvilleautomotiverepair.com/)

I'll get a good one eventually ... :lol:

Regardless of who does the cleaning from Loopers to FAA rated Lanfgfreid in CA I do a basic and likely too simple to be 100% reliable check. I like to fill the oil cooler 3/4 with brake clean or other crystal clear solvent, shake the hell out of it, tap with a rubber mallet all around while inverted and dump the solvent out through a coffee filter. Any junk comes out I reject the cooler. I had one that was cleaned locally give up some fine carbon looking stuff up every time it was filled and dumped. This is what drove me to the FAA rated shop.

Oil cooler test results (@150 psi)

Fender:

Setrab = Good
Carerra - Behr = Good

Engine:

Behr = Fail

Time to ship the other two Behr on-engine coolers off.

FYI: 1 hour labor is $97.00. Takes one hour to clean, test and paint each. Charge for failed cooler testing = $30. Pricing as of 1/4/10.

IIRC the FAA rated CA shop charges about $45 each test and clean but does not paint.
