Angry Gone with the wind

I have an oil leak at either the breather gasket, t-stat O-ring, or oil pressure switch.

I just couldn't wait for a Pelican order so I go to Tischer to get all three parts.

Tischer

T-stat O-ring $11.35
Breather gasket $18.48
Oil pressure switch $37.98

Pelican
$4.00
$2.00
$5.50

I remove pretty much everything on the right side to gain access. I have the new parts in a paper bag.

I remove the oil pressure switch from the bag and install it.

I go inside to get a little motor oil to lubricate the O-ring. When I return the bag is nowhere to be found.

The wind has been blowing like mad today and the bag is freaking gone! I walk up and down my neighborhood looking under almost every car. I look in the storm drain.

I guess the Porsche gods were teaching me a lesson for paying 600% markup on a damn paper gasket.

I thought my car would be back on the road tomorrow, now I have to wait for mail order.

End of venting....thank you.

I can relate. I bought the overflow tank for my Audi as it is now yellow and spider cracks are develping. Nothing leaking but better safe than sorry, right? Put new tank on drove 15 miles and the damn thing develops a crack! I paid extra to have it next day so I could replace it this weekend! So on goes the old tank and up goes my volume when I call GPR on Monday.

you just need the O-ring and the breather gasket.... I might have them in my garage... I think I deffinatly have the 0-ring, but I think I just used my last breather gasket. I'll check tomorrow and repost during the day, If so I will be in Monrovia at about 5pm, only 10mins from you.

also... when you pull your breather off... make sue you check to see that it is flat, along with where the case halfs meet, I had some oil leeks for a long time and did all the normal replacement stuff, but could never get rid of the leeks..... the last time I pulled everything apart, and resurfaced the breather, and removed the studs from the case for the breather and resurfaced that with a block... that was the only way I could get the surfaces to mate perfectly, so no more oil leek there...

If the breather gasket and the o ring ar ethe same as for a 2.2, then I have both of those items as well. I cant make the fun run, as they moved my game up, but will be in Ashburn most of the morning....

Nope... sorry.. looks like I just used the last ones... The only thing I have that might be of some use to you is replacement nuts for the beather, they are all metal locking NAS silver coated nuts.. you would never have to worry about them backing off from vibration.. I use them on anything I can with my car. I have a bunch of the small ones that fit the breather studs, and I believe the termostat studs also... they are yours new in the bag if you want to pick them up in monrovia this afternoon. If so call me around five... if you get my voicemail just call back about 20 mins later I might be driving and in a dead spot, I hit a couple driving towards Frederick. 301-748-7222

Talking PARTS ARE FOUND!!!

Some kids were playing wiffle ball and hit the ball inter the storm drain. Neighbor of mine removed the cover and was looking for a stick and some tape to retrieve the ball.

I took the chance and peered down there---there was my bag!! So I went down and got the bag and their ball.

Thank you you everyone for your genorosity.
