Are you taking it off to replace it, or just yanking the A/C to save weight?

Take off 3 17mm bolts. Loosen the tensioning bolt next to fan housing. Tilt toward fan housing to remove.

I'd recommend leaving it in until you suffer a DC summer with the Targa. Full on sun and 95 degrees/95% humidity is acceptable weather to use the A/C.

As long as we are making meaningless correlations. How about your post counts coincidently matches the number of seconds the calendar has been off ~ Around 1952, the IAU recognized the fact that a sidereal year, which is supposed to be more than 1223 seconds longer than the adopted figure of 1,556,925.97474 seconds, cannot occur in reality. Since the time intervals of a sidereal year and of a tropical year are considered to be equivalent, the IAU made the following statement in 1955 on page 454 of their official report: "…and all that was needed now was a minor correction by the substitution of 'tropical year' for 'sidereal year'."

Eric - Just removed mine last week. Not a big deal at all. The last bracket that the AC sits on is another problem. Anyone here know how to remove said bracket?

Removing the compressor is easy, but you have to make sure there is on R12 in the lines. If there is, you need to get the system evacuated first.

Once evacuated, everything simply unbolts pretty directly except the main bracket. Its bolted to the front of the engine, and you can't get to the bolts without removing the muffler.

What Chris said. Hence my original question as to the purpose of removal....
