But there is a grease called "CV Joint Grease". I'm pretty sure that's the name brand. I think any good bearing grease will do. Just look for German writing.

Goto your local auto parts store and look at the tubs of wheel bearing grease and pick anyone that says it's approved for CV joints. I think I normally use Valvoline synthetic or synthetic blend, silver container with black top.

CV grease is just moly grease. Still, it gives me the warm fuzzies to buy the stuff that actually says "CV grease". I get the VW/Audi stuff from Olympic in Gaithersburg (becuase it has German writing) or the stuff in the 4oz tube at Pep Boys.

I actually have 35lbs of grease that was researched and found by a Potomac member (Dan Freedman). He called and spoke to the factory engineer. The motivation was to find out just what was good and because that if you notice the Mobil synthetic does NOT say the usual "Use on, ..., ..., cv joints,...". In fact it turns out the red Mobil synthetic is not very good for cvs. The dersired qualities were described as 'high tack' and 'high pressure'.
It turns out that this stuff is Mobil 222HP (close anyway). Have to go to commercial outlets to get it and it only comes in the 35lb buckets. We've been having very good success with it. Dan used to sell it for $20/quart container. So will I. A quart will last you a LONG time. I'm in Leesburg. That's much cheaper than the store price for a 14oz tube! |

Lubro Moly makes excellent CV grease. I have an extra tube in the garage if you can't find any locally. Only have one tube though...
