there are two stablizing struts that go from the Al cross member to the rear bolting points. These are welded to the early steel one, but bolted to the Al one. Everything else is bolt on.

You'll also need a new under-belly pan. The old one won't bolt up. I bought my 'stabilizing struts' with the pan. Other than that, it was a simple bolt on job. You may need some new hardware too...I believe I had to forage for some nuts to fit the stabilizing struts (the old pan mounted to the car with bolts).

yeah, that's true... overall, as far as this job goes, the belly pan will be the least of my problems

many reasons, most of them not valid but:
-mostly b/c it's there -then there's leshanderitis -taking off weight (grams) -i have it -looks prettier than the steel one -it's part of my (total) front end re-do -if i do it this way i can just drop the entire front, w/o ever dealing w/ castle nuts, roll pins etc (absolutely everything except torsions, sways, and hubs is getting replaced) (all of this started w/ a desire to jump up to 3.5" ears on struts LOL) |
